Sapna, daughter of Ajay and Savita Sehravat was born in Markham, Canada on July 9, 1989.
Her interest in Dance taught her how to walk in her childhood and since then it has been her passion.
She started learning Bharatanatyam at the age of ten in Nrityakala-the Canadian Academy of Indian
Dance under the able guidance of world renowned Guru Dr. Menaka Thakkar.
The training in Bharatanatyam in Nrityakala has made Sapna a dedicated, devoted, disciplined and
respectful individual.
She began performing with the company at the age of 14 in Pattano Pradesh-The Queen of Spades.
Thereafter came Sitayana-Sita's story and other performances such as Puspanjali and Shapes and Rhythms. She also received
the opportunity to learn traditional Indian Folk Dance from professional Ghumar dancers of Rajasthan as well as training in
Body Conditioning from guest teacher of Nrityakala-Natasha Didi.
Sapna is one of the head executives of the South Asian Committee as well as associated with organizations
such as Amnesty International and United Nations. As a member of these groups she helps to organize south Asian fucntions
and various fundraisers in her School.
Sapna also tutors elementary and secondary students in English, Mathematics and Music as a volunteer.
Besides being passionate about dancing, Sapna also enjoys writing poetry, reading a variety of literature,
listening to Music and playing the flute.
